About us at
St Elizabeth’s House

Welcome to somewhere special

St Elizabeth’s House invites you into a lovingly preserved 16th-century manor where historic character and contemporary comfort blend seamlessly. Stone-flagged floors, exposed beams and mullioned windows speak of centuries of English country life, while each room is thoughtfully refurbished with a calm, neutral palette, plush bedding and period-appropriate furnishings reimagined for modern living. The boutique atmosphere is refined but unfussy: bespoke linens, artisan toiletries and hand-selected pieces create a quietly luxurious stay without ostentation.

THE HISTORY OF

St Elizabeth’s House

Located in the ancient stannary town of Plympton St Maurice, on the edge of Plymouth in Devon, St Elizabeth’s House is a beautiful example of a plush Georgian manor. Originally built in the 17th century it has been used as a private home and finally becoming a convalescence home run by a order of nuns for most of the last century. Following a sympathetic upgrade and spectacular conversion, the house took on its current form as a hotel.

Today, St Elizabeth’s House offers boutique accommodation and a variety of hospitality-related services. Welcoming guests from far and wide, this independent hotel is prized for its interiors and friendly service. But people also love the views and tranquillity of the gardens and acres of sweeping grounds, stretching out to the South Hams countryside beyond.
